busy going nowhere...
Edit: picture- was gona post it ealier, but I couldn't for some reason, maybe cuz I wasnt on my home computer, who knows
Hey all, here's something I did as a portfolio piece. Ive been doing alot of digital painting lately so I wanted to work on my traditional painting chops a lil. This is oil on masonite. A lot of the detail gets lost in the photography, and some areas get real muddy, so Ill prolly touch it up in photo. Let me know what you guys think.

I'm liking the idea and the placement quite a bit. His isolation in the black I think works, and i like how divided it all is.
I wouldn't mind seeing some light pollution and a bit more effect from his fire hands. I mean, he pops, and he looks like that light is really effecting. But all that light needs a bit more tied in I think, so it doesn't look like as much of an after thought. I think that could solve some issues with the teeth at the bottom popping out a bit too much, and making that whole bottom, not as easy to figure out.
Cool pose and foreshortening, really makes this one I think.
I originally wanted the bottom to fade incoherently into darkness, but my apparment is much too dry to be doing oil paints, Everything dried too quickly and things got real hard to blend down there. I may just have to throw in the towel and use the computer to save my butt again for it though.
I also agree that I could bounce the light around more.
Thanks for the help Mike
I'm thinking that's an improvement. I like it alt more this way. Those whites down there aren't clamoring for as much attention. Feels alot more balanced, better focus. Is that just a proper photo? Or a color tweak?
It was a good amount of tweaking, but less than I thought it would take, I really just wanted to leave it as is, and say its completely traditional, but I think that its such on improvement that Ill have to go with the new one.
