Quite a change indeed! I do like the dynamic pose alot more in this. I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of a hole, but that me forcing an opinion on you, more than what it would actually need.
Heh, yeah I wish I could have kept it having to do with a big see-through gunshot, but I wound up liking the dynamic pose more than the "hole" concept. Hell, it's been done before, right? Only by Phil Hale anyhow. I will still paint it in the palette and style of Phil Hale while trying to keep some David flavor in it.
Just noticed, and wanted to point it out before you start. The hat looks like it's flying off his head fine, and i like the space it creates alot, good placement, but it is a bit on the tiny side I think. At least in reference to his head.
I am liking this one a lot more thent he first. Although the first was a kick ass drawing, this one just really grabs you with the feeling in that pose. My only thing is I could swear that he is smiling...the first Comp looked shocked, but this one looks like he is glad to have a hole through his chest. Ot's is a little thing, i just thought i would mention it.

Awesome work man.
Now... where's that cool negative space?

I like the expression a lot more in the first one. Sort of a bewildered shock. This one looks almost happy
