Did these for fun yesterday. I got the idea from a poem I wrote about beetles. I thought if there are beetles in Heaven I would wear them like jewelry after I am dead. I was inspired by Brian Froud's fairy portraits as well.
"if there are beetles in Heaven I would wear them like jewelry after I am dead."
That is such an awesome line. These looks really really cool. The first an third are tied in a contest of awesomeness. I keep looking at the third one in particular and seeing those two wisps of hair cutting over the cheek, and I want to think it's some type of pattern on the skin, which makes me wish these all had some sort of markings. Seriously awesome though. Are these gouache?
thanks Mike. actually it is acryllic, which I haven't used for a year and a half so I wanted to see if I could still do it. I had a bunch of iridescent white that I bought accidentally so I wanted to use it up.

Burn these are so cool. I am wondering if Don's old Asian horror films had given u any inspiration on those faces.
I LOVE THESE.
