Love the lighting, the softness, and pose of the jumping figure. I don't like the pose of the foreground figure as much, though... he feels very stagnate comparatively, and i'm not sure where his other arm went. often times the pose of a hand can mean alot for the emotion portrayed, especially if all you see is someone's back. his hand is just there, pinky up. This pose says, "i'm drinking tea," not, "i'm about to die."
Very nice atmosphere and modeling. I agree with Hovey, also on the jumping man the leg that is bent far back looks weird, I think a bit of his foot showing some where would help. And put more birds, maybe
Man you love your birds. As cool as the bird is, it's too 'stampy" right now cus it's just a flat shape. too close in value to the jumping guy. the bg looks a little static too. If it's an action scene put some actions into the bg. Right now you just have horizontals and verticals, put some curves and diagonals in there that support the motion.
I kind of agree with what Phong says about the bird, but my issue with it is that it doesn't exhibit the same kind of energy that the rest of the piece is giving off. It seems like more of a soothing element whereas everything else is very dynamic and action packed. Maybe spread those feathers out and make that bird really look like it's reaching for some sky! I really dig the value composition though. Definitely been enjoying your work more and more this semester (not that it wasn't good before, of course).
