New Projects, New Members, New Year

Hey everyone. Happy New Year from the Oondu Staff! Which for the time being is just me. I haven't really been posting on here due to the heavy schedule of job hunting and a part time job. BUT since I have had a bit of time with the holiday I got to start something fun. This is just something I am doing to give me a chance to play with texture and traditional painting cues that I want to try to introduce into my work. The face is still a hot mess, but the "unfinished" quality of it I think is going pretty well.

Surviving the Storm

Alright guys! it's new, it's rough but its a work in progress. Let me know what you guys think. I just thought it would be fun to do something with a lot of depth. I'm still trying to push it but I figured this was as good a time as any to post it up.

The Arctic Assassin

This is my final for Groff's class this Thursday. We were all given action hero/villin names andtold to design a character around them. I can't remember for the life of me what his first name is but his last name is Lighting and his occupation is Arctic Assassin. Once I find out his first name I will probably try to make his whole name work with the title block in the corner.

Just go the page layout section and add an html widget to your side bar. Then type in the following highlighted script:

Title the section if you want but when you post it, it will look like this:

Marie Antoinette

This is my color comp for the Open assignment in Groffs Pro Practice class. I posted thumbs a week or so ago so I figured I would post the update. Critiques are welcome. Im still trying to figure out the type...

New Project

My money is on the bottom Rasputin cover I think. It's a bit dark showing him drowning...BUT when nothing else will work. I am really feeling like the type is still kinda weak on all of them. Tweaking is a must, but I feel like they are going in a strong direction. The goal is the have a book cover with limited color. The colors I used in these little comps will be much more limited and muted in the final. Any type advise let me hear it. Thanks.

Some New Stuff

Hey guys, I thought I would just post the last finished project I did. This was the first assignment for Groff's Pro Practice. "Illustrate an Everyday Job". Personally I don't mind the Dentist. But it's always fun to feed on the fears of others...Right?

Pirates for Payne

Behold my finished assignment for C.F. Payne. I turned it in last week because I was out of town this past weekend. but I figured I would go ahead and post it.

Pirate Book Cover:

Alright guys here are some Thumbs for my first assignment in Paynes class. He told me to do a historically accurate pirate book cover for any Real pirate in history. I picked Black beard! These are the thumbs that made the cut out of 23 total. Let me know which gets your vote. I think I am favoring the one with everyone in the captains quarters...That one would have moon light to the left and lamp light on the right. Sounds like fun to me...Keep in mind the wide comps are wrap around book covers so the composition the right has to be strong on its own.

The Void

This is my open assignment for Mahan's class. A kind of retro sci-fi pulp art movie poster. I have been looking up techniques from then and plan to use something close to them for the final. I already have it transfered but nothing really started yet. Keep in mind that this isa rough value study haha, not ment to be a finish. I'll post the rest when I get it done.

A LIttle Somethin From Break

Finally had the time to finish this thing. Got it started right at the end of break. Surprisingly it went pretty quick, so I plan on doing a handful of these things, just similar enough to be a collection. I don't want them to be to similar or ill get bored. haha.
