Shoggoth

This is my comp for Groff's class. It is a picture from Whisperer in the Dark, one of my favorite HP Lovecraft short stories. In the scene the aliens are exiting this persons body, after they took his brain to another planet. Any thoughts?

New Project

My money is on the bottom Rasputin cover I think. It's a bit dark showing him drowning...BUT when nothing else will work. I am really feeling like the type is still kinda weak on all of them. Tweaking is a must, but I feel like they are going in a strong direction. The goal is the have a book cover with limited color. The colors I used in these little comps will be much more limited and muted in the final. Any type advise let me hear it. Thanks.

Light up and you get lit up!

This illustration is based on the superstition that it's bad luck to light three cigarettes with one match, meaning in a time of war by the time you lit the third cigarette with your match an enemy sniper would hone on the light and you'd get lit up.

Where The Wild Things Are II

So here's the cover painting as far as I got done to hand in for class. It's almost finished except for some tightening up of the background elements and the leaves. I have a lot of other work at the moment, but hopefully I'll be able to get back to it soon to finish it up completely.

Some New Stuff

Hey guys, I thought I would just post the last finished project I did. This was the first assignment for Groff's Pro Practice. "Illustrate an Everyday Job". Personally I don't mind the Dentist. But it's always fun to feed on the fears of others...Right?

faeries

Did these for fun yesterday. I got the idea from a poem I wrote about beetles. I thought if there are beetles in Heaven I would wear them like jewelry after I am dead. I was inspired by Brian Froud's fairy portraits as well.

Finished

I know I know, this thing has been up here too much already. But I wanted to get the final up.

An Undertaker and Abe

Well, it's been a terribly long time since I've posted something on here myself, so here's two of my most recent projects for those who don't ever check out my personal blog. Both of these ended up being those projects that in the end you are happy with, but somewhere in the middle you wanted to scrap. Anyways, top is Groff's Professional Practices assignment, and the bottom is for Payne's Illustration Seminar class.

Character Bust

This is my main character for my story for illustrative drawing. I'm also sculpting a life size bust of him for 3d illustration. He is a Culiye, a faun like creature that despite is appearance is quite timid. It is up to him to save his race, and his world from being destroyed.

Too Long

Hey all, Now I know you've all been so so sad that I've been away for far too long, but buck up chaps, I'm posting again. Anyway, all delusions aside. I finished this up early this week, I think it looks pretty good but I think some fresh eyes always help. If you catch anything I can fix it before thursday. And hey, this goes well with the suggested theme to so bonus.
