Battle at Saloon No. 9

This is a second painting in my cowboy series, a sort of hard broiled detective story meets the wild west meets illustration. Here our late hero is seen, whilst alive, in the midst of a rather taxing bar brawl. Trying to keep to similar visual clues: singularity of image, the buzzard motif, and of course our main man. He looks alot more like me in this one, since the face is relatively sans distortion this time around. Any crits before i move to paint would be nice, though i'll be honest, these paintings are more the do and done type, so comment quick before i really screw the pooch. haha.

And yeah, this one is as huge as my first.

I think the composition looks great and the drawing of his face is beautiful. I would suggest you rethink the position of the left arm it does'nt feel as realistic as the rest of the drawing. Also I believe the hand in the foreground is a little too short. If you feel like doing extra work I think the cropping could be moved more to the right to focus more on his forward momentum. Anyways I'm sure this will turn out as sweet as your last piece.

I have to agree with "B" on this one. If i had to be really picky i'd say that the bottle to the left of the one all the way on the right is following the line of the shirt sleeve pretty closely. It will probably fix it self with the application of color but if it doesn't try messing with the line weight a bit. loved the other piece too so i'm pretty keen on seeing how this turns out. good luck!

Looks good, I would just say that those glasses look pretty awkward, i would either just show them flying off, or find a way to show the twist in them a little better, of corse you could prolly just do that with color

Thanks for the comments guys! I will definitely institute those changes. Yeah, even though the line drawing is very tight, the painting will be much more gestural.
