i feel like it needs more cools in the shadows. It is getting really dark with all that black, it"s causing it to be a little flat. Maybe a faint rim lighting, or just lighten the shadows with some lighter blues.
The pei piece looks unfinished but you have awhile until SOI is due. mainly the hat is too simple, and the hair too transparent.
I like the simplicity of the piece. if anything having a very subtle change in the coat from the black to a rich deep "other" color (i won't choose for you) can bring a great interest to all that dark negative space. I think simple verses detail is good though.
